GOVERNMENT PREPARES FOR ‘DIGITAL LEARNING’ TO UPLIFT EDUCATION

SHILLONG, March 08: The suspended Congress MLA, Dr.M.Ampareen Lyngdoh expressed her concern over the high drop-out rate of students even as schools have reopened after the lockdown imposed due to the Covid-19 pandemic.

In presenting the question today at the Budget Session, Lyngdoh sought information from the Department of Education on whether the department has conducted a research on the reasons and problems causing many students to drop out of school in the State.

Responding to the question, the Minister incharge of the Department of Education, Lahkmen Rymbui said that schools have just reopened and the department has asked for reports to be submitted by all districts to study in detail on whether there is in fact students dropping out of schools with ways on how to remove such problems faced by students.

Rymbui in responding further to the question informed that the Government will also start implementing ‘digital learning’ in all the Government schools from this year,2022. He also added that a summation will be collected this year to understand how to process further the aim, and how to impart education digitally with the Directorate of Educational Research and Training (DERT) also improving on the methods of teaching.
