The Federation of Khasi Jaintia and Garo Peoples (FKJGP) has urged Meghalaya’s Power Minister, Abu Taher Mondal, to immediately fill vacant positions in the Meghalaya Energy Corporation Limited (MeECL).
FKJGP President Dundee C. Khongsit, addressing the media, expressed concern over 130 vacant posts at the levels of Executive Engineer and Assistant Executive Engineer, along with 125 vacant posts for Junior Engineers. He criticised the government for not recruiting personnel to fill these crucial roles.
Khongsit emphasised that qualified youth should be appointed to these positions so that their education does not go to waste. He also voiced dissatisfaction over the government’s practice of hiring on a contractual basis, stating that it could severely impact the future of young professionals seeking stable employment.
