Shillong: A short film, “Ki Dak Bym Thoh” directed by young filmmaker from Nongstoiñ, Kyrshanborlin Wahlang, is set to be screened at the Kinovertikal International Film Festival in Russia.

At just 23 years old, Wahlang, who is currently pursuing his studies at St. Anthony’s College, Shillong, has already made his mark in India’s independent film circuit. His film has been showcased in several festivals across the country, including the prestigious Brahmaputra Valley Film Festival.

A resident of Upper New Nongstoiñ in West Khasi Hills District, Wahlang is the son of (L) Sorlington Lyngkhoi and Ritalis Lyngkhoi and one of six siblings. Despite humble beginnings, his passion for filmmaking has driven him to remarkable heights.

Speaking to T7 News, Wahlang shared that his journey began in 2019, when he started making short films using a mobile phone borrowed from friends. Over time, with the prize money he earned from local and regional competitions, he was able to purchase better equipment and continue improving his craft.
