SHILLONG, April 29: The Federation of All Teachers of Meghalaya (FASToM) which has called for an indefinite non-cooperation movement over their many demands from the Government, today the 29th of April has instead relaxed the agitations for a week, and has also urged the teachers to continue with their duties in school.
Andrew Lyngkhoi who is the General Secretary of FASToM has said that the federation of school teachers has not at all called off the agitations, but has only decided to relax the agitation for a week, and this decision has been made after following up with all the demands from the officers of the Department of Education who also provided clarifications. At the same time he has also demanded that this one week may be the time within which the Government must fulfill the demands by also providing the same on paper. However, he also said that if the Government cannot fulfill these demands within a week, the teachers will have even more intense agitations.
He said that the teachers under FASToM are ready to cooperate with the Government on any matter if the Government provides on paper the demands of teachers being met.
