Shillong: Police from the Anti-Narcotic Task Force (ANTF) arrested a suspected drug peddler from a hotel in Khyndailad during an early morning operation on March 5.
The accused, identified as Hegin Guite (41) from Leimakhang Mission in Senapati district of Manipur, was apprehended at Hotel Rainbow, Room No.115 around 2 am.
Police recovered seven soap cases containing suspected heroin weighing about 70.93 grams, believed to have been brought into Shillong for illegal distribution.
Sources said Guite had reportedly come to Shillong for medical treatment at a hospital. Following the arrest, he was handed over to Sadar Police Station, where a case has been registered and further investigation is underway under the NDPS Act.
