SHILLONG, March 17: The Minister incharge of the Tourism Department, Sniawbhalang Dhar said that the Department has received ₹2 crores from the Ministry of Tribal Affairs, Government of India to beautify the Umïam View Point in Mawïongrim, but this amount of ₹2 crores is however not enough to beautify the View Point.
The Minister said this while responding to the question presented by the AITC MLA from Nongpoh, George B.Lyngdoh in the Assembly today. Dhar also informed that the amount of ₹2 crores has not been utilised as yet.
On the other hand, George Lyngdoh gave a suggestion to the Department of Tourism to utilise the funds received for the construction of parking lots and public toilet facilities to avoid crowding and traffic jams near the area as the View Point is situated on the highway NH40.
