Conrad K. Sangma attended the closing ceremony of College Week 2026 and the Diamond Jubilee celebration of Synod College Shillong at Jaiaw, Shillong.
Addressing students, the Chief Minister praised the college’s legacy and stressed the importance of investing in education as a tool for societal transformation. He noted that nearly 50% of Meghalaya’s population is youth, calling it both an opportunity and responsibility.
Sangma urged students to embrace entrepreneurship, highlighting the gap between job seekers and available government jobs. He also raised concerns about drug abuse and HIV, calling for collective action.
The event celebrated 60 years of Synod College’s contribution to education, with cultural performances, awards, and the release of a commemorative souvenir marking the occasion.
