SHILLONG, June 30: Sohra Government College organised the State Level Symposium on the topic, ” Ka jingbuhdor ia ki jingrwai Khasi ba la thaw da ki nongthaw bapher bapaher”. The symposium was attended by many with speeches delivered by the Principal, Dr.A.Lyngdoh, Dr.Ailynti Nongbri,the HOD of the Department of Khasi, Shillong College and the Chief Guest, Titosstarwell Chyne who is the CEM of the KHADC.
At the inauguration programme of this Symposium the CEM of the KHADC, Titosstarwell Chyne said that songs and music now have changed greatly when compared to the olden times.
He said that it is necessary to warn the music composers that they must think deeply and not just make music as it comes and they must also make music from their hearts and not just copy or steal the songs of others from outside the State as this also poses a danger.
On this day Titosstarwell Chyne promised to help as much as he can as the CEM of the KHADC in supporting the Department in the College which is incharge of promoting traditional song and music. The CEM on this day also handed over the work order of Rs.10 lakhs to this College.
Prior to this the introductory address note was delivered by the Principal of Sohra Government College, Dr.A.Lyngdoh with the professors and students from several colleges also taking part in the programme.
