Shillong: The investigation into the brutal murder of a seven-year-old boy from Nongrah has intensified, with police confirming that suspects have been identified but arrests are yet to be made as crucial evidence is still being gathered.

East Khasi Hills Superintendent of Police Vivek Syiem said the case remains complex and requires detailed investigation. The child, identified as Kyrshanbor Kharmudai, had gone missing from his residence on October 8. His body was recovered the following day from a forested area at Lum Rumnong, Mawpat.

The SP stated that while police have questioned and identified individuals suspected to be involved in the crime, arrests cannot be made until sufficient evidence is secured. He added that investigators are also probing the motive behind the killing.

According to Syiem, the forensic report is awaited and is expected to play a key role in establishing the sequence of events and confirming the involvement of those suspected. Police have assured that no effort is being spared to ensure justice in the case.
