Shillong: : The State Disaster Response Force (SDRF), along with the Search and Rescue Team (SRT) of the Fire & Emergency Services (F&ES), recovered the body of a 16-year-old boy, Dameshwa Thabah of Sohiong Stand, who was swept away in the Weiniangriang River at Mawtap village, Sohiong, East Khasi Hills district.
According to officials, the incident occurred on Sunday evening when Dameshwa fell into the river while trying to retrieve a ball.
Following a request from the District Disaster Management Authority (DDMA), East Khasi Hills, the SDRF launched a search operation early Monday morning. The boy’s body was located by evening and handed over to the police, who later released it to the family after completing all necessary formalities.
