Nongpoh : The Jorabat Police of Assam on Wednesday arrested an accused drug smuggler and seized ₹63,3000 cash and 21.6 kg of cannabis from his possession.
The accused has been identified as Bindeshwar Rai (65) a resident of Mukundpur Garahi in Vaishali district of Bihar was arrested from 8 Mile area Assam side under Jorabat police out post during the campaign led by Jorabat police post in-charge Kapil Pathak.
The Police has informed the arrested accused is a well known cannabis smuggler in Khanapara area and along the Meghalaya-Assam border for a long period of time. The accused is currently under custody and the Police is investigating the matter by registering an FIR in this regard under the NDPS Act.
