Tourism Minister and Chairman of the West Khasi Sector Regional Committee, Paul Lyngdoh said on Tuesday that Assam has yet to respond to Meghalaya’s request to resume border talks.
Speaking to reporters, Paul revealed that he already instructed the Deputy Commissioner of West Khasi Hills to reach out to the Deputy Commissioner of Kamrup District, Assam, to facilitate the continuation of discussions between the two states. However, there has been no response from Assam, added Lyngdoh.
Currently, the Meghalaya government is awaiting a reply from Assam to resume negotiations regarding the remaining disputed land. Out of the 12 identified areas, six have been successfully resolved, while six more, including Langpih, Block I and Block II, remain contentious.
