HEADLINES

The family and relatives of Pa’im Kawangbor Syiemïong, the Syiem of Hima Nobosohphoh, have expressed deep concern after masked men were caught spying on his house on two separate occasions.

The first incident occurred on August 26, 2024, when two masked men armed with guns were seen standing near the Syiem’s residence. On September 3, 2024, the same or similar individuals returned to spy on the area again. According to reports, the second incident took place around 5 PM, and a village youth reportedly saw the men. However, he was unable to follow them as they quickly fled the scene.

Following these two alarming incidents, the family and relatives held a special meeting to address the situation. They have publicly urged the individuals behind these acts to come forward for a peaceful discussion. The family stated that while they are open to talking and resolving any issues, the constant surveillance and intimidation have caused distress. Bah S. Nongdkhar, the family’s spokesperson, conveyed this message during a press meeting attended by Bah S. Syiemïong, the Syiem’s brother, Bah P. Nongdkhar, his brother-in-law, and other relatives at Nongkhlaw, West Khasi Hills District.

In connection with these events, Pa’im Kawangbor Syiemïong has lodged a formal complaint (FIR) at Nongstoiñ Police Station.
