Ampareen Lyngdoh Calls Party Switching ‘Surprising’, Says NPP Gaining Despite Exit Claims

HEADLINES

Shillong, March 31: NPP MLA from East Shillong Ampareen Lyngdoh has termed the current political trend as “surprising,” pointing out that while some claim leaders are leaving the party, many are actually joining the National People’s Party (NPP).

Speaking to the media, Lyngdoh said it is often difficult for the public to understand the dynamics of Indian politics, where MLAs shift allegiance from one party to another.

She stated that despite claims of exits, the NPP continues to attract leaders, highlighting a contrast in political narratives.

Ampareen also said she is prepared to contest again in the 2028 elections, adding that she remains committed to working closely with the people. However, she noted that the final decision will depend on the party leadership.

She emphasised that her focus remains on public service rather than political distractions, and expressed hope that the MDA government will continue to govern the state even after the 2028 elections.
