SHILLONG, March 24: The Chief Minister of Meghalaya, Conrad Kongkal Sangma informed that the Ministry of Home Affairs has informed that the Union Home Minister has called for a meeting with the two Chief Ministers of Assam and Meghalaya for the permanent settlement of the border issue between the two states on the 29th of this month.
On the expression of the UDP that the Government should re-examine a few sites in which the local residents have expressed dissatisfaction, he said that the Government has already stated and informed all the coalition partners in the Government, and the Government is working hard to arrive at a permanent settlement as per everyone’s satisfaction, especially after the Government has worked hard in the past 6 months.
He said that perhaps the settlement might not be as per one’s desires on all aspects, but the aim of the Government is to primarily arrive at a settlement on whatever is acceptable.
