HEADLINES

The leaders and members of the All Meghalaya Dancers Association gathered today at Jaiaw Taxi Stand in a move to express to the Government the problems faced by them due to the inability of the government in granting a special recognition to this organisation which is one of the many organisations that have promoted the talents of the youths in the state.

On this day at the gathering, speeches were delivered by leaders of different civil society organisations alongside dance performances presented by the talented youths and a child as well as songs presented by members of AMDA and also Anthony Khyriem.

The leaders of the different civil society organisations expressed that the Government must recognise the talented people of the State in the same way as it had recognised Indian Idol contestant Amit Paul, and moreover the Government must give it’s stamp of recognition firstly to the indigenous people with talents in singing and dancing for these youths have brought accolades for the State during the times when they had gone and contested at big contests and competitions on national platforms.

It was informed that the problems faced by the talented people are mostly related to them having been shortlisted to represent the state at the different contests, but since they never receive any assistance from the Government, they lose their aim and most are left with no other option but to not go ahead for the contests and competitions.
