Acting VC of NEHU Confirms Action on Inquiry into Unrest

Acting Vice Chancellor of NEHU, Prof. Nirmalendu Saha, has confirmed that the Ministry of Education, Government of India, has pledged to take appropriate action based on the findings of an inquiry committee that was formed to investigate the ongoing unrest at the university. The committee is expected to submit its report within 15 days.

Speaking to the media, Prof. Saha revealed that he had received a formal request from the Ministry of Education to provide relevant documents and reports related to the issues raised by students, faculty, and staff of NEHU.

Prof. Saha further shared that he had established a small internal committee to ensure the timely submission of documents required by the investigation team. He assured that the committee, comprising two members, would listen to the grievances of the stakeholders, including students, teachers, and staff members, to ensure that all concerns are addressed thoroughly.

He also informed that the necessary documents were to be submitted by 5 PM the following day, with the Ministry of Education set to receive them by the evening of November 19.
