A couple from Assam killed in an accident on NH-06 in Ri-Bhoi

Two young individuals from Assam tragically lost their lives in a road accident involving a truck on National Highway-06 at Shangbangla, Ri-Bhoi, early Sunday morning. According to police reports, the victims were identified as Nilutpal Dowari (23) from Sarupather, Dibrugarh, and Gargee Chutia (21) from Gadadha Singha Path, Joytipur.

The pair were traveling from Guwahati to Shillong on a Royal Enfield Himalayan (AS01-FF-3367) when they attempted to overtake a truck at Shangbangla. In a sudden maneuver, the bike collided with the truck’s rear tire, throwing both riders under the truck’s wheels, where they sustained fatal injuries.

The truck, bearing license plate AS01-RC-0413, was driven by Helmi Suting from West Jaintia Hills District. Authorities have transported the bodies to Civil Hospital in Nongpoh for post-mortem. The families of the deceased have been informed, with instructions to visit the police station for necessary formalities.
