Mr. Kwis Sumer Safely Reunited with Family in Meghalaya Following Coordinated Search Operation

HEADLINES

Kwis Sumer of Muktapur village, East Jaintia Hills, who had been reported missing after travelling to Karnataka in search of employment, has been safely traced and brought back to Meghalaya.

His safe return followed a sustained two-week search operation involving the Meghalaya Police, Karnataka Police and other stakeholders. The matter was brought to the attention of the Meghalaya Government through a memorandum submitted on July 27.

Chief Minister Conrad K. Sangma took up the matter with the Karnataka Government, facilitating coordination between the two states. A Meghalaya Police team led by IPS officer Lovish Garg travelled to Bengaluru and worked with Karnataka Police to trace Sumer’s movements.

A breakthrough came after Sumer attempted to contact his family through social media with the assistance of Kavi Kumar, who had provided him shelter and support during his stay.

Sumer was subsequently located safely at Tiptur in Tumkur district and arrangements were made for his return to Meghalaya. He was reunited with his family and clan members in Shillong on Monday.

The Chief Minister expressed appreciation to the Karnataka Police, Meghalaya Police, community stakeholders and Kavi Kumar for their efforts in ensuring Sumer’s safe return.
