Meghalaya Education Minister Lahkmen Rymbui has announced that the Central Government has released the funds required to pay the salaries of SSA teachers in the state, following his recent meeting with the Union Education Minister in New Delhi.
Speaking to reporters on Friday, Rymbui said the Centre had not released the salary funds for Samagra Shiksha Abhiyan (SSA) teachers since April, leading to delays in salary payments.
The minister said he raised the issue during the Conference of State Education Ministers held in New Delhi on July 22 and 23, where he informed the Union Education Minister that Meghalaya had not received the pending funds from the Centre.
According to Rymbui, the Union Minister assured him that the amount would be released within a week. He said the assurance has now been fulfilled, with the funds already reaching the State Government.
“The money has now reached the State Government, and the process for releasing the pending salaries will begin,” Rymbui said.
He added that the pending salaries are for the months of May, June and July, bringing relief to hundreds of SSA teachers who had been awaiting their dues.
The release of the funds is expected to ease concerns among teachers and ensure the timely disbursement of their long-pending salaries.
