SHILLONG: Chief Minister Conrad K. Sangma on Tuesday announced that Meghalaya will introduce a structured pay framework for SSA and adhoc teachers from April 1, 2026, involving an additional annual expenditure of ₹200 crore.
Informing the Assembly, the Chief Minister said the new system will include a 3 percent annual increment and is expected to benefit over 23,000 teachers. With the revision, the state’s annual spending on SSA and adhoc teachers will increase from ₹600 crore to ₹800 crore.
He said the initiative is aimed at providing greater financial stability to teachers while clarifying that the deficit school category will be examined separately at a later stage due to financial implications.
