Foetus Recovered from Nonbah River in Nongstoin, Police Launch Probe

Nongstoin, January 24: Residents living along the banks of the Nonbah River in Nongstoin made a shocking discovery on Friday morning after spotting a blood-stained foetus floating in the river.

According to Upper New Nongstoin shnong secretary H. Kharlyngdoh, along with VDP president S. Syiemiong and other shnong elders, the foetus was noticed at around 9 am. Preliminary observation suggests it was a male foetus, approximately four to five months old, and appeared to have been forcibly aborted.

Following the discovery, shnong authorities immediately informed the police. A team of police officials arrived at the spot and carried out the necessary legal formalities, including recovery and documentation of the remains.

As of the filing of this report, the identity of those responsible for dumping the foetus remains unknown. Police have initiated an investigation to ascertain the circumstances surrounding the incident.
