Police have made another breakthrough in the ongoing anti-drug crackdown after arresting a man in Polo, following a confession by one of the three suspects earlier detained at a hotel in Khyndai Lad.
According to police, one of the suspects arrested at the Khyndai Lad hotel admitted that he had supplied two soap cases containing drugs to another individual in the Polo area. Acting swiftly, police launched an operation and apprehended the buyer, identified as Amit Thapa, 25.
During the arrest, police recovered one soap case containing around 90 small vials of suspected drugs, which had been hidden inside a shop in Polo. Investigators believe the accused attempted to conceal the contraband when no one was watching.
Earlier, the Anti-Narcotics Task Force (ANTF) had arrested three individuals : Saijul Hussain, Rahim Uddin, and Akbar Ali from Seven Sister Hotel in Khyndai Lad. The trio, who had travelled from Silchar, Assam, reportedly pretended to be patients seeking treatment at NEIGRIHMS in order to mask their activities.
Police are continuing their investigation to identify more people involved in the network and have booked the arrested persons under the NDPS Act.
