The Minister incharge of Excise, Kyrmen Shylla, said that wine shops which are located near schools and hospitals that do not comply with regulations will be reviewed by the government if complaints are received.
Speaking to reporters on Monday, the minister explained that to obtain a liquor license, approval or a NoC (No Objection Certificate) from the local headman and the community is required. While some shops may have been located near schools or hospitals in the past, there is no such issue now.
The minister also mentioned that the issuance of new liquor licenses has been temporarily suspended in areas like Polo and other locations following complaints. The government is working on a new mechanism to address these concerns effectively.
