KHADC Executive Member Winston Toni Lyngdoh, who oversees the Enforcement and Revenue Department, informed the Council that there are 16 toll gates leased out to private individuals across the jurisdiction of the Khasi Hills Autonomous District Council (KHADC).
The information was shared in response to a question raised by Rambrai MDC, Lurshai Kharbani, during the session on Thursday.
According to Lyngdoh, the Council generates around ₹25-26 lakh annually from these 16 toll gates. He also revealed that the lease period for seven toll gates has expired this month, while others have been renewed.
The Executive Committee will soon review the matter and make a decision regarding further lease renewals.
