Voting for the MDC elections in Wapungskur-A (men’s polling station) and Wapungskur-B (women’s polling station) under the 22-Musniang Rangad Constituency was abruptly halted after miscreants vandalized the Electronic Voting Machines (EVMs) at both polling stations.
The incident occurred around 11:30 AM, disrupting the electoral process. While there were initial signs of commotion earlier in the day, officials had managed to control the situation before the sudden attack on the voting equipment.
Reports indicate that the identity of those responsible remains unknown, and it is yet to be confirmed whether they were local residents or outsiders. The assailants first targeted the women’s polling station, damaging the EVM, before moving to the men’s station, where they also destroyed voting materials, including official documents.
Following the disruption, voting at both polling stations was suspended, and an FIR has been filed. However, no arrests have been made so far. Authorities are investigating the incident, and further updates are awaited.
