Meghalaya Power Minister Abu Teher Mondal emphasized that the state government is not focused solely on winning accolades but is working diligently to strengthen the Meghalaya Energy Corporation Limited (MeECL) to ensure reliable power supply to the people.

Addressing the challenges faced by MeECL, Mondal acknowledged the numerous issues within the corporation. However, he assured that the government has taken responsibility to ensure that electricity consumers do not face disruptions due to these problems.

Mondal highlighted that, in addition to hurdles in power generation, distribution, and revenue generation, the department is also grappling with difficulties in clearing debts owed to companies supplying electricity.

Despite these challenges, the minister affirmed the government’s commitment to resolving issues step by step. He assured that the power department would continue to devise solutions to strengthen MeECL and improve its efficiency, ensuring better services for the citizens of Meghalaya.
