Shillong, October 25: The much-anticipated final between MLP FT and Nongkrem FC faced an unexpected delay due to heavy fog that blanketed the SSA ground, originally scheduled to kick off at 2:30 pm on Friday.
With visibility reduced so severely that one goalpost could hardly be seen from the other, the Shillong Sports Association (SSA) opted to postpone the game to 5:00 pm (Friday), hoping for improved conditions.
As the fog showed little sign of lifting, SSA management remained optimistic, planning to proceed with the game under floodlights if visibility improves.
However, many players voiced their concerns, some anonymously, expressing frustration at the decision to push forward despite the bad weather conditions.
Source informed that some players have suggested rescheduling the match to a later date when conditions may be more favorable. Sources close to the teams also indicated that rescheduling would allow for a safer, more competitive environment, yet it remains to be seen whether SSA will reconsider the matter.
It is worth noting, both MLP FT and Nongkrem FC are promoted to the First Division League after clinching top positions in the Second Division.
However, with the SSA’s decision pending on the weather, fans and players alike are left waiting to see if the skies will clear, allowing the final showdown to proceed as scheduled.
