Shillong: In a continued effort to curb illegal and anti-social activities in the city, the East Khasi Hills district police conducted a series of coordinated raids late last night, targeting multiple areas including Sadar, Polo, Urkaliar, Laitumkhrah, Madanrting, and Mawblei.
During the raids, authorities seized around 50 litres of Indian Made Foreign Liquor (IMFL) and more than 200 litres of illicit country-made liquor. The police also took action against individuals involved in public nuisances, such as playing loud music inside parked cars, soliciting in public places, and engaging in drunken driving.
The police stated that the crackdown is part of a sustained campaign to deter illegal activities and ensure a safer, more peaceful environment in Shillong. They emphasized their commitment to ongoing efforts in addressing these issues.
Authorities have assured that similar operations will continue in the coming days to maintain law and order in the region.
