MITCHEL WANKHAR RESIGNS FROM THE NPP AND WANTS TO BE WITH REGIONAL PARTIES

SHILLONG, April 18: As the National People’s Party is growing with many political leaders joining the party, today the MDC of the NPP from Laban who is also the Executive Member in the KHADC, Mitchel Wankhar submitted his resignation letter to the NPP effective from today the 18th of April, 2022.

Wankhar said that he has nothing against the party, but he now wants to be a part of regional parties because he has found the regional parties to be more appropriate in leading the State after having work with them. He said that in his political journey he will also meet again with his supporters on how to move forward.

As per the news going around, the resignation of Wankhar from the NPP is due to the lack of surety in getting an NPP ticket in the Assembly Election of 2023 from Mylliem constituency. However, on being queried, Wankhar who has won as an MD C from the NPP in 2019 said that till now he has not had a discussion in connection with a party ticket for the MLA Elections.

After the resignation from the NPP, Wankhar also said that he will move ahead to contest the MLA Elections in the coming year from Mylliem, and as per the message gathered from this MDC he might contest from the United Democratic Party.
