The MLA of Mylliem constituency and also Minister incharge of Community & Rural Development, Hamletson Dohling today unveiled the foundation stone for the construction of a new Block Office for Mawpat C&RD Block in the presence of the MLA of 14 Pynthorumkhrah constituency, A.L Hek, the MLA/MDC of Sohryngkham constituency, Pyniaid Sing Syiem, the BDO of Mawpat C&RD Block, M.S Kshir, Rodrick Kharkongor, Headman as well as other Headmen of different localities.
Dohling in his speech stated that Block Offices are very important in Meghalaya and the Central Government and State Government schemes have allocated funds for the construction of Block Offices for which the Government has already called for tenders with work orders ready to be given for Mawlai, Bhoirymbong and Mawpat Block at a budget of upto ₹2 and half crores for each Block.
Furthermore, the Minister also said that there are upto 40 new Blocks to be constituted and upto ₹3 crores has been allocated for each Block in order to ease the work process as well as the public, and this time the Government will receive ₹120 crores from which ₹3 crores will be allocated to the Blocks.
He said that the implementation of the 100 days scheme in the rural areas has really improved with the Government spending only ₹262 crores in 2016 while in 2020-2021 the implementation of the scheme reached upto ₹1580 crores which indicates that the implementation of the scheme in villages and localities has brought growth and development through the hard work of the BDOs and the public.
