SHILLONG PRESS CLUB FONDLY REMEMBERS TILAK RAI

Shillong : The collective of news reporters under the banner of the Shillong Press Club, are beyond words in grief at the demise of a well renowned and most senior member in the profession, Shri Tilak Rai who left for his heavenly abode yesterday the 28th of September,2021.

Late Tilak was born in February 1965 and it might come as a surprise to many that he started out in the profession of a news reporter with Lum Shyllong in the years 1990-91 owned by Shri Bindo M.Lanong.He went on and was associated with other english dailies like Shillong Times, Meghalaya Guardian in the state as well as another renowned national daily the Indian Express.He left Indian Express in 2003.

Even after Tilak left Indian Express, he continued to work in this profession by being a part of the afternoon daily The Evening Mail and after this stint, he went on also to start a news portal Oh! Meghalaya in the year 2008.

On the sad demise of Shri Tilak, the Shillong Press Club had a condolence meeting at its office in Lower Lachumiere and it wasbat this meeting that the many contributions of Shri Tilak, made to the state and news reporting profession was heard.
