Shillong: The East Khasi Hills Superintendent of Police, Vivek Syiem, on Wednesday briefed that the investigation into the murder of four-year-old Insaphira Lyngdoh Mawnai has reached a conclusion with the arrest of a 13-year-old boy from the same locality. According to SP Syiem, the accused had meticulously planned the crime. On the day of the incident, he allegedly took his mother’s mobile phone and watched explicit adult content. Later, he lured the four-year-old girl to a secluded spot near a newly constructed house in Nongrah Nonglum, Shillong. When the child resisted his intentions, the boy pushed her underneath the house, which was under construction and filled with water due to recent rains. The victim’s body was recovered the next day, causing widespread shock and outrage across Shillong. Police investigations revealed that the accused had premeditated the act after viewing the adult video, and he had even scouted the location beforehand to execute the crime.
The SP confirmed that the boy has been apprehended, and the case is now ready for prosecution. The accused is expected to be produced before the Juvenile Justice Board
