Superintendent of Police (SP) for East Khasi Hills, Sylvestar Nongtynger, has confirmed that 309 police officers will be deployed to ensure the peaceful celebration of Puja in Shillong. In addition to the police, the Special Operation Team (SOT) and five Quick Action Force units of the CRPF will be stationed at various Puja pandals for security.
The police department has set up 11 sectors, each overseen by Dy. SP and Addl. Dy. SP officers, along with 31 other officers, to manage security. Sector officers have also met with the Central Puja Committee to ensure smooth proceedings. The Puja celebrations are set to begin this week and will continue until Monday.
