15-Year-Old Boy Dies After Fake Doctor Performs Surgery Using YouTube as Guide

HEADLINES

A 15-year-old boy named Krishna Kumar alias Golu tragically died on Friday night in Bihar’s Saran district after a gall-bladder surgery allegedly performed by a quack, Ajit Kumar Puri, who is now absconding. According to reports, Puri conducted the operation by referring to videos on YouTube.

The boy, a resident of Bhuwalpur village and the son of Chandan Sah, had been suffering from severe stomach pain. Seeking medical attention, the family took him to Ganpati Seva Sadan, a clinic run by Puri in Garkha Motirajpur. Puri, presenting himself as a doctor, informed the family that an immediate surgery was necessary to remove gall-bladder stones, to which the family consented.

During the procedure, the boy’s condition rapidly worsened. Puri, who was allegedly seen by the family consulting YouTube for instructions during the surgery, rushed the boy to Patna in his ambulance as the situation deteriorated. Unfortunately, the boy died en route to the hospital.

The boy’s father lodged a complaint with the police on Saturday, and the authorities sent the body for post-mortem. Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) Isha Gupta stated that a case has been registered against the accused, and searches are ongoing to apprehend him. Investigations into the incident are currently underway.

The boy’s father, Chandan Sah, shared his anguish, stating, “During the surgery, I could see the quack repeatedly checking YouTube on his mobile for instructions. When my son’s pain increased, he took the boy to Patna but he died on the way.”

This heartbreaking incident highlights the dangers posed by unlicensed and unqualified medical practitioners operating in rural areas, where access to proper healthcare remains limited.
